THIS VOLUME CONTAINS a broad review of recent scholarship on Saint Birgitca and the Birgittine Order. The twenty-three papers were originally presented at the third international Birgitca conference at Darcington Hall, Devon, in July 2015.

Hösten 1799 skrev Esaias Tegnér (1782–1846) in sig vid Lunds universitet. I juni 1802 disputerade han vid den filosofiska fakulteten. Ett halvår senare blev han docent i estetik. Sin förmåga att skriva latin och behandla ämnen inom forngrekisk litteratur hade han också visat prov på, och 1810 utnämndes han till regius professor i grekiska.

This volume publishes the results from a conference held in 2015 on “the lord bishop”, Dominus Episcopus, discussing various functions and roles of bishops during the Middle Ages, covering the early to the late medieval period in mainly Northern Europe (England, Sweden, Denmark and Germany) and also Spain.
