Proceedings of a Symposium organised by the National Museum of Denmark in 2007. Scholars from the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe and North America exchanged research on Islamic coinages of the 8th–11th centuries. These are the formative centuries of the Islamic coinage, but also a time when Islamic silver coins were exported in huge quantities via Russia, Ukraine, Belarus to the Viking World.
